How To....Dye Your Unbleached Hair

This information on this page should be treated as a GUIDE only
please consult a hairdresser or professional if in any doubt:
Always follow manufacturers instructions and do a strand & sensitivity test before use.
The following guide is for Manic Panic & Special Effects Dye

It is not always necessary to bleach your hair before using these vegetable based dyes as some colours may show up on unbleached hair or give a sheen/glow to the hair, however for a really good vibrant colour it is recommend these dyes be used on lightened or naturally pale hair. Trying to use a light shade of dye on dark hair will do nothing much so don't waste your time and money trying this.

Vegetable based dyes such as Manic Panic & Special Effects will probably last less time on unbleached hair and also give more of a sheen/glow to the hair rather than a vibrant dyed colour. Vegetable based dyes are not permanent and should not damage your hair

Please view our hints & tips section for ideas on making colour last to removing dye stains from sinks!

If you have any photos of your unbleached hair with Special Effects or Manic Panic Hair Dyes please send us a photo for our Gallery to help others see the results.
